Even for somebody as successful as Serena Williams, she still has her doubts, fears and can consume herself with negativity. Research has shown that 75% of our daily thoughts are negative. A legacy of looking out for the sabre toothed tiger hunting us down.
A positive mindset is a winning mindset. Serena has learnt techniques that allows her to stay positive or bounce back after a rare loss. A successful entrepreneur is not too different. They may have set backs, but they have to stay positive and believe. All a winning athlete and a successful entrepreneur have done is work out a process that works for them that wins them trophies. All they do then, is repeat it over and over again.
After a crushing injury caused her to plummet from her #1 spot to #172 in 2011, she seemed to become a totally different player. Serena didn’t lose her talent or her drive, but she lost her focus. She spent too much time and energy thinking of her losses and being paralyzed by fear, instead of letting her hunger for future wins take over when on the court and training. Cue Tony Robbins. As he says, “where your focus goes, energy flows.” If you focus on your negativity and fears, those thoughts will consume you and suck all of your energy, just as they did for Serena.
